Artist Samuel Bak began painting as a boy in the Vilna Ghetto. He and his mother were the only members of his family to survive the Holocaust. Mr. Bak has spent his life wrestling with his experience during the Holocaust, creating a legacy of testimony through his art.

To Life: To the Arts is the official opening of a new retrospective of Mr. Bak’s work, curated by the artist himself, on display at the Museum beginning February 20.

With a performance by:

Ittai Shapira

To Life: To the Arts will feature an original score and performance of violinist-composer Ittai Shapira’s The Ethics, which premiered at Carnegie Hall last spring to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Theresienstadt.
