Judith Evan Goldstein is a Holocaust Survivor, born in Vilna, Poland.  In 1941, under Nazi occupation, most Jews in Vilna were placed in a ghetto.  About 50,000 Jews of the city were led to Ponary, a place in the forest outside of Vilna, shot to death and thrown into pits.  Most of her family is buried there.  At the liquidation of the ghetto in 1943, Goldstein was shipped with her mother to concentration camps:  Riga, Stutthof and later, Torun.  Goldstein uses her experiences of horror and degradation to create her artworks.
