November 3, 2016 @ 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at The Florida Holocaust Museum

The Florida Holocaust Museum has partnered with St. Petersburg Preservation, along with YWCA, USF St. Petersburg, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and Florida Print Solutions, Inc. to present Dr. Charles B. Dew, one of America’s most respected historians of the South, an award winning author whose books have helped to shape the conversation on the history of race in this country and a Williams College professor. Dew was born & raised in St. Pete. His most recent book, The Making of a Racist: A Southerner Reflects on Family, History, and the Slave Trade is in part an autobiography of life in the South in the 1950’s, allowing readers to understand just how deeply racial thinking saturated white southerners who were otherwise admirable people.

“An Evening of Conscious Conversation” with Dr. Charles B. Dew is presented as part of the ongoing YWCA of Tampa Bay’s Conscious Conversation Series.

This program is free and open to the public. Registration is required to attend. For additional information, please call 727-222-2091 or visit www.stpetepreservation.org/event-2348634
