The Florida Holocaust Museum will celebrate its 22nd anniversary at the annual To Life event on February 27, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida.  This year's theme is To Life:  To Children, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Kindertransport.  Our Honorary Chairs Marietta Drucker and Lisl Schick, both survived the Holocaust because of the Kindertransport rescue initiative, look forward to sharing this special evening with you.

Our program will feature concert pianist Mona Golabek performing excerpts from her play with music, The Pianist of Willesden Lane.  The play tells the true story of Ms. Golabek's mother Lisa Jura, a young Jewish pianist who dreams of a concert at the storied Musikverein concert hall.  When Lisa leaves with the Kindertransport to protect her from the Nazi regime, everything about her life is upended except her love of music and her pursuit of that dream.  Come enjoy some of the world's most beloved piano music in this tribute from a daughter to her remarkable mother.

Additionally, we are proud to recognize Chief Jane Castor of the Tampa Police Department as our 2014 Loebenberg Humanitarian Award Recipient on this special evening.  Established in 2003 in honor of the Museum's Founders, The Loebenberg Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals whose vision, dedication, and community service have furthered the Museum's mission to recognize the inherent worth and dignity of human life in order to prevent future genocides.
